Ted Riedel was Born to Eternal Life on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at age 82. Preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores, his son Teddy, his second wife, Marien, dear mother and dad, Eleanor and Ted, and two toes on his right foot.
Devoted Pa to Dave (Liz) Riedel, Pat (Donna) Hahn, Sally Hahn, and Scott Hahn. Sweet grandpa to Maile, Amanda, and Wendy. Beloved Brother Bush to his sisters, Kathy (John) Hudziak and Nancy (Jerry) Christensen. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
Pa spent 37 years working at Kearney & Trecker and Krones, until he landed his dream job--working with his son at Riedel Electronics.
Cancer took Pa’s first love, Dolores, at the age of 26. He met Dolores through his friendship with her rowdy brothers, the Herr Boys. Pa loved garage night with his brothers-in-law where they shared their love for the American car culture of the 1950s-60s. Pa had his first 'Vette at age 20. Pa found love and friendship again when he married Marien in 1985. They spent many happy hours boating and fishing on Lake Michigan, traveling to antique shows, and quilt shopping. After 12 years of marriage, Marien passed away from cancer. After Marien passed, Pa began his collection of crockpots, Vita-Mixers, grills, and other kitchen gadgets.
Pa’s faith became the cornerstone of his life and was reflected in the way he chose to live. He was baptized May 30, 1982, at Elmbrook Church. In his early years at Elmbrook, Pa helped with the single parent’s ministry and stocking the foodbank. For many years Pa, Marien, and Granny Riedel attended a weekly Bible study led by Pa's good friend, Tom Kish.
Pa never let his health issues get him irritable or cross. He had a good attitude and took setbacks in stride and with a smile. Pa was caring and generous, helping others financially during tough times, and supporting them in prayer. He went about his day praying, praising, and humming. Pa will be remembered as a sweet and gentle man.
