Ruth Ann Petrowitz Laube passed away peacefully at age 80 on May 2, 2023. Ruth was born on March 21, 1943, to Marjorie Jean (Blair) and Jerry Petrowitz in Mauston, WI, and was the older sister to Fred (Harold) Petrowitz.
She is survived by her loving husband, Alfred Laube; her daughter, Shanna (Steve) Anderson; grandchildren, Alex and Marjorie; brother, Fred (Nancy) Petrowitz; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and a darling new great, great-niece, Charlee, that she joyfully got to meet this past December. She also has many much loved cousins who helped to celebrate her 80th birthday with many cards and calls that made her so very happy.
Ruth went to grade school and high school in the Mauston area, followed by college in the Milwaukee area, Cardinal Stritch. She began her 42 year teaching career in Menomonee Falls, WI, and continued in northern Wisconsin two years later up in Grand View and Drummond. How lucky those many students were, to be in the care of such a loving and hard-working teacher, some of whom have stayed in touch with her over all these years.
After they retired, they left northern Wisconsin and bought a place in San Felipe, Mexico in 2004, where she could finally be warm. They spent the colder months in Mexico, and the warmer months in southern Wisconsin with their daughter, Shanna and family.
Ruth was an avid reader, loved animals, liked to tend to her gardens, never met a stranger, and absolutely loved spending time with her family, whom she loved with her whole heart!
Ruth asked that instead of having a memorial for her if you feel the need to honor her memory her, suggestions were The Arbor Day Foundation, ASPCA , your local animal shelter, or your local cancer center. Or just remember all the good times you had with her and be sure to talk about her long after her departure. She would want you to be happy that she is at peace and not sad that she is gone. She is now free of pain and weakness and is frolicking in a garden with all the animals she loved over the years.
The family would like to thank the ProHealth Hospice nurses and staff that cared for her while she was able to remain at home, as well as ProHealth Angels Grace Hospice facility in Oconomowoc.
