On the evening of Sunday, November 28, 2021, Roger W Berg crossed the threshold of heaven and earth to touch the face of God at the age of 86. Born on August 30,1935 to John S. and Anna J. Berg, Roger was a graduate of Waukesha High School in 1953.
Roger met Marie Dorothy Berg when they were both students at Waukesha High School, and they dated for several years before marrying on April 11, 1955. The husband/wife duo continued the family legacy of running Park Farm where they raised cattle and planted crops spanning over 50 years. Roger enjoyed the farming life, focusing mainly on dairy and beef cattle, veal cattle, and corn and soybean crops. He had an analytical mind and used it to his advantage when designing farm plans or fixing and retrofitting equipment.
Roger was active in the local community throughout his life, serving on the Wales Volunteer Fire Department for over 10 years, even earning the role of Captain. Roger played a key role in starting the Wales Sno-Saints Snowmobile Club; he could share stories of snowmobile antics for hours.
Springbrook, WI is home to the family’s cabin where for many years Roger and Marie, along with their children, created many memories. Roger was an outdoorsman in the truest sense: deer, turkey, and grouse hunting brought him great pleasure, as well as fishing and bird watching. When not hunting or fishing, Roger was a devoted fan to both the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers football teams.
Roger was a steadfast husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He dedicated his life to supporting Marie and his four children and played the role of the funny, quick-witted grandpa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For this he was cherished by his family and respected by his friends. Though no longer here in body, the memories of Roger and his impact on those who knew him will not be forgotten.
Roger is preceded in death by Marie, his wife of 61 years; and son David. Roger is survived by: children Terry (Barb), Randy (Michelle) and Bonnie; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A very special thanks goes out to Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, WI for the respectful and extremely loving care Roger received during his short time there.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Jerusalem Presbyterian Church in Wales, WI. Visitation is scheduled from 2:30 - 4pm with a service immediately following.
