Robert Bruce Johnson

June 15, 1945 — October 4, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Bruce Johnson, aged eighty, born in Texas on June 15th, 1945. Sent to eternal life on October 4th, 2025. Bob passed away surrounded by his loved ones at home.

Bob was an Artisan in the drywall trades, specifically as a finisher and plasterer. As a lifelong member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, he earned profound respect from his peers for his outstanding craftsmanship and dedication to quality, always emphasizing the importance of doing things correctly.

Bob pursued a variety of interests throughout his life. He was enthusiastic about golfing, fishing, show dogs (Shelties), and hunting dogs. An avid sportsman, he hunted waterfowl and deer. Bob was a member of the NRA and the Pewaukee Sportsman Club, where his children and grandchildren enjoyed the annual Ice Fishery. He was a member of the Waukesha Gun Club, and in his later years, a member of the Daniel Boone Conservation League. Bob loved playing Bingo and gambling at Potawatomi, as well as engaging in chess, various card games, and Mahjong.

Known for his gift of gab, Bob enjoyed challenging conversations, whether political or otherwise, earning the affectionate nickname "Cliffy Clavin". He was always straightforward, letting you know where you stood with him. Despite his frankness, Bob had a kind heart and was always willing to help.

Nature was his solace, his happy place. Bob found peace on trips to the Upper Peninsula, Door County, Phillips (deer hunting grounds), and Alaska (Denali Park). One of his favorite overseas trips was to Italy with his beloved wife, Karen. A beautiful memory that brought him joy to recall in his later months.

Bob was married twice. The first marriage resulted in four children, while his second marriage blended in three stepchildren from Karen. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the loves of his life. The greatest love of his life was with his second wife, Karen, with whom he shared with for over 30 years. They passed away within five days of one another, a testament to their deep bond.

Bob’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those that knew him.

Preceded in death by his wife, Karen K Johnson, and his parents. His surviving family includes his children: Wendy (Robb) Williams, Robert (Tracy) Johnson Jr., Joelle (Claudio) Lanza, and Christina (Dan Koenig) Johnson; three stepchildren: Tracey Listle, Tim (Cindy) Young, and Jennifer (Brian) Engling; sixteen grandchildren; and thirty-seven great grandchildren.

Respectfully, the families will be holding a private Celebration of Life in November.

Instead of flowers to honor Bob, the families would love donations made to either the Leukemia Lymphoma Society or the Parkinson’s Foundation in the name of Robert B Johnson.
