Richard George Wasson, Ph.D.

Richard George Wasson, 78, of Waterford, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at Waukesha Memorial Hospital on Monday, January 6th, 2020. He was born October 27th, 1941 in Alexandria, Minnesota. After earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees from St. Cloud State, he was ultimately awarded his Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dick spent several years as a teacher and administrator in the Wisconsin Rapids School District before becoming the district’s superintendent. Subsequently, Dick served as a superintendent at several different school districts in southern Wisconsin before joining the NEOLA group as an educational policy consultant. Dick had tremendous wit, a generous heart, and an avid love of learning. He also enjoyed traveling, making voyages to venues all around the world, which paired well with his passion for photography. Most of all he had an infinite love for his wife and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren "Bill" and Helen (Brohaugh) Wasson and his sister Jeanne Wasson Bowers. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Sandra Lee Wasson, and his children Brian (Leslie Petersen) and Kara Wasson; grandchildren Rachael, Jessica, Benjamin, and Samuel, and sisters Kay (Randy) Sukovich and Julie (Steve) Waller. In honor of Dick, memorial contributions can be made to educational charities of your choice. Memorial services will be private. Please do not send flowers.
