Richard A. Duston, affectionately known to many as Dick, departed this world on August 16, 2024.  Dick found immense joy in his family and he is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Patricia Duston, their 3 sons, Todd, Aaron and Reuben, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Born on September 6, 1935, in Milwaukee, WI, Dick's journey through life was marked by remarkable achievements.  He was a proud veteran of the National Guard and served his country for four years, exemplifying the values of discipline and service that remained with him throughout his life.  He had a passion for cars and racing and carved out a distinguished career in the world of motorsports during the 1960s and early 70s, where he made a name for himself racing stock cars and sprint cars all over Wisconsin including, Hales Corners, Wilmont, Beaver Dam and Slinger.  In 1973, he won the IRA championship.

Beyond racing, Dick was a fleet mechanic for Payne and Dolan, and an auto shop teacher at Ethan Allen School for boys. He was not only an educator; he was a mentor, instilling knowledge and a love for mechanics in his students.

Following his retirement, Dick ministered as a Gideon and as a chaplain for Racer's for Christ (RFC). He dedicated his time to sharing the life-changing message of Jesus Christ, touching the hearts of countless individuals along the way.   He was passionate about sharing the gospel with everyone he met and that spread to all areas of his life.

Dick possessed a creative ability to work with his hands, restoring vintage cars and building hot rods. His presence was commonly felt at car shows, where he not only showcased his creations, but also shared the love of Christ with those he met, giving out countless Bibles and tracts. His gentle spirit and kindness drew people to him, creating bonds with so many that will be cherished.

As we remember Dick, we celebrate a life driven by passion, faith, and love for family. He was a man whose contributions to the racing world, his community, and his family are irreplaceable. May his memory be a blessing.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7th at 11:30am at East Troy Bible Church.  Reception to follow.  East Troy Bible Church is located at 2660 North Street, East Troy, WI  53120.
