Richard "Dick" Lewis Kumbier

Richard “Dick” Lewis Kumbier of New Berlin, WI, passed away peacefully on November 18th, 2022, at the age of 81. Dick is survived by his loving wife and lifelong best friend, Sharon (nee Dickson); loving children, Paul (Shannon), Jill, Dawn (James) Schuette, and Chad (Jennifer); and cherished grandchildren, Nathan and CJ Kumbier, Lauren and Bethany Tostrud, Erica and Allison Schuette, and Rylee Kumbier.   

Born in Oshkosh, WI, on January 8, 1941, Dick grew up in Oshkosh and enjoyed spending time during his youth at the family farm in Pickett, WI, deer hunting with his cousins and picking strawberries with his mother. He graduated from Oshkosh high school in 1959 where he met his wife, Sharon. They were married 60 happy years. Dick earned an Associates Degree in Accounting and had a successful career as a Materials Manager, including 20 years with Rockwell International, while living and working in WI, MI, OH, and PA. Affectionately known as “Da Griz” to his children and “Pappy” to his grandchildren, Dick enjoyed hosting family events to cheer on his much loved Packers and Badgers. 

Dick was preceded in death by his infant children David and Ruth; parents, Norman and Ariel; and sister, Joan. 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 7th, 2023, at Regency Senior Living complex at 13750 W National Ave, New Berlin. Visitation will be from 10-11am. A memorial service will start at 11am with a light luncheon to follow. Persons attending are encouraged to park and enter the building at the north side of the complex off of W Fieldpointe Dr.
