Patricia Hazel Duston departed this world on November 8, 2024. She could be characterized by the immense joy she found in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and in her family. Pat was the faithful wife of Richard for 67 years until his passing less than three months ago. She is survived by their three sons Todd, Aaron and Reuben, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Born February 16, 1940 in Milwaukee and given up for adoption to Edward and Lorraine Walters soon afterwards. Pat often referred to her adoption as a gift that she had been given. The entire Duston family can give a witness to our gratitude for that choice. Unfortunately, Lorraine passed away when Pat was a child so she lived with Eddie and his sister Hazel who she lived with as her parents for the remainder of her growing up years.
Pat attended Juneau High School in Milwaukee and met Richard Duston at the Eagles Club. They were married on August 31, 1957. She lost her first child Mark soon after his birth and when Todd was born she raised him while Dick was away serving in the military. Although at times she worked as a waitress, in pediatric care, school bus driving and house cleaning, she was mainly a stay at home mom. She loved cooking, baking, sewing and hanging wallpaper. She experienced highs and lows alongside Dick in his racing career but was often heard cheering 'Go Dick Go!'
After moving from West Allis to Greenfield, Aaron was born and a few years later Pat experienced a new life in Jesus Christ. This included forgiveness of sin, gaining a wonderful church family at Calvary, Waukesha Bible, Kettle Moraine Community and EastTroy Bible churches. Reuben was born before they moved to the farm in Mukwonago where she lived until her death. Pat grew to love reading and studying the Bible, singing in the choir and singing hymns with friends. She also loved going to Door County in convertibles and on motorcycles and traveling around the country in the Winnebago. She accompanied Dick to many car shows where they shared conversations, Bibles and gospel booklets with people for many years. She took a missions trip to Panama, Central America and helped out with VBS occasionally.
Pat will be remembered for her hospitality, her love for family, flowers, birds, fall colors, praying and singing hymns. She was grateful for all of her grandchildren and to adoringly holding her six great grandchildren. She loved her three sons and daughters in law well and will be greatly missed by the entire Duston family.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Monday, November 25th, at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church.
