Obituary

Nancy Lee Smith passed away peacefully in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, on June 21, 2026, holding hands with a beloved family member and entering God’s eternal domain after a life of dedication to family, service to her community and devotion to her faith.

Born on February 8, 1943, in Galesburg, Illinois, Nancy married the love of her life, Guy W. Smith, and their 65-plus years of marriage were a testament to enduring love, partnership, and faith.

Nancy was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a devoted sister, and a committed community volunteer. She played active and important roles over the years as a fund-raiser and organizer for organizations such as the Milwaukee Boys and Girls Club and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Nancy was very proud of her time volunteering at the Milwaukee County Zoo and acting as an equestrian jump judge at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. Nancy loved tennis, photography, travel and her adorable grey toy poodles, Duchess and Princess. Nancy had a quick wit and a kind heart; she was always ready and willing to put the interests of others ahead of her own. Above all, Nancy cherished her role as a devoted spouse, loving mother, and ever-doting grandmother and great-grandmother. Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Guy; children: Guy W. Smith II, Lynn Hock, Teresa Smith, and Michael Smith; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and three sisters.

Nancy’s family would like to acknowledge the incredible and gifted care teams at Dimensions Living Oconomowoc, St. Croix Hospice, and AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc. Their kindness, professionalism, and empathy will long be remembered with deep respect and gratitude.

A private Mass will be held for Nancy’s immediate family. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at a future date, with details to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her honor to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee or the Milwaukee County Zoo.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
