Matthew Robert McDonough

Matthew Robert McDonough went to meet his Lord at the age of 57 surrounded by his loving family on June, 26, 2022. He passed the way he wanted to---at home with his family nearby. Originally from Chicago, Matt called Germantown home for the past 12 years. He is survived by his wife, Christine, daughter, Kaela Rose, and his sons, Andrew and Joshua. A life-long Bears fan, moving to Packer's country had some challenges. He also enjoyed the Chicago Cubs as well and watched as many games as he could. He took a lot of ribbing, but the rivalry was all in good fun. Matt had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh. A former Boy Scout himself, Matt encouraged his sons and their participation in all their Boy Scout activities from camping to selling popcorn. Matt is also survived by his caring siblings: Keith (Patti) McDonough, Laura (Sam) Harris, Giulietta (Lee) Hebert, as well as Christine's loving family: John (Jennifer) Pluta, Catherine (Tom) Dremel, Michele (friend Greg) Pluta, and mother-in-law Carol Pluta. Matt lost his parents at a young age so Christine's family really became Matt's family. They welcomed him and Kaela with open arms when he married Christine in 2004. Matt is further survived by aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers. Matt enjoyed some of the simple pleasures of life in Wisconsin---camping with his family and going to the Dells and Door County. He excelled at grilling brats and steaks, fruits, and vegetables on the patio as well as riding around with his lawn tractor when it was time to cut grass or collect leaves in fall. He loved to attend his childrens' games, swim, use technology, and listen to oldies music. He passed on his love of music to all his children who followed his passions in choir, band, and audio tech. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 10 at Crossway Church, W156N10041 Pilgrim Road, Germantown, WI 53022. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. A special thank you to the many people who have supported Matt and his family through prayers, love, and donations over the years. A special thank you to the medical staff at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN), Davita Germantown, Froedtert Hospital and to Accent Care Hospice. Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the liver and kidney donor who gave Matt the gift of time over the past four years to be with his wife, Christine, and their children Kaela Rose, Andrew and Joshua.
