With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Matthew Henry Huppertz, who left us too soon on August 27, 2025, at the age of 68. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Huppertz; his mother, Ethel Huppertz; and his sister, Mary Beth Huppertz.
Matt was a devoted husband, a loving father, an older brother, and a friend to many. He shared 40 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ildiko, building a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they lovingly raised four children—Alexander (Ashley Boerner), Kristina (Jason Muth), Cassidy (Rob Grzybowski), and Matthew—each of whom was the greatest source of pride and joy in his life. His deep love and unwavering support will forever live in their hearts, carried by echoes of his laugh, the timbre of his voice, and the joy he found on the golf course.
Matt built a distinguished career as a lawyer, known for his sharp intellect, integrity, and steadfast dedication to his clients and community. He was deeply respected by colleagues and peers, not only for his professional skill, but for the compassion and fairness he brought to every case. He especially valued the time he spent working alongside his son, Alex. His work left a lasting impact, and his legacy as a trusted advocate and mentor will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of working with him.
Matt is also survived by his brother, Thomas Huppertz (Mary), and nephew Erik, along with extended family and countless friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, and generous spirit.
Matt had a gift for making those around him feel valued and cared for, and his larger-than-life presence was a steady source of comfort and love. Matt delighted in exposing his children to the wider world through travel, yet found equal joy in the comfort of his favorite familiar snacks and go-to dinners. He had a playful ritual of grading everything from movies to restaurants on his own letter-scale, and few things brought him more satisfaction than an ice-cold Miller Lite at the end of the day. Whether with family, at work, or among friends, Matt lived with purpose and authenticity, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his deep sense of loyalty, and the countless ways he enriched the lives of those he loved. His memory will live on in their laughter, their stories, and the love they continue to share.
A celebration of Matt’s life will be held on Friday, September 26, at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 380 Bluemound Rd., Waukesha, from 4-7 PM. A service of remembrance will be held at 6:30 PM, when family and friends will gather to honor his legacy, share memories, and find comfort in each other.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Matt by enjoying a game of charades, watching Jeopardy or a favorite Wisconsin team, planning a trip, or simply spending time with your loved ones.
