Mary H. Uttech

On Saturday, January 16th, 2021, the gates of Heaven opened to welcome Mary, at the age of 93, to her eternal home. She was a resident at Shorehaven Health and Rehabilitation Center in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin at the time of her passing. Mary was born in Sheboygan on May 7th, 1927, to Timothy and Helen (Berg) Johnson. She graduated from Central High School in 1945. On December 29th, 1945, Mary was united in marriage to Robert C. Uttech, the family iceman. On their journey through life they enjoyed 63 years together and had four children. The church was the focus of Mary’s life where she was active in many of the church activities and groups. After raising her kids she was trained and worked as a Medical Assistant. In 1982 Mary and Bob moved to Eagle River and operated Holiday Harbor which became a popular place on the Eagle River Chain of Lakes to grab a burger and a malt or to hop on a pontoon and enjoy time on the water. Mary and Bob made many friends while at Holiday Harbor and many young people from the community found summer employment with them. Mary was preceded in death by her husband and brothers James, Ted and Stuart Johnson and Thomas Horn. She is survived by her children Brian (Shawn) Uttech of Eagle River, Wisconsin, Wendy (Wayne) Simon of Grovetown, Georgia, Sara (Tim) Holst of Frederick, Maryland and Mark (Suzanne) Uttech of Crystal, Nevada. In addition eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grand children and four great great grand children.. There will be no memorial services at this time due to COVID precautions. Raise a glass of Southern Comfort in her honor.
