Marie Virginia (Hall) Cooper passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024, at the age of 96 surrounded by family in Waukesha, WI. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and great grandma. She is survived by her loving, devoted husband of 72 years, Theodore W. Cooper “Ted”, and their children: Edward L. Cooper (Susan Phipps), Gail M. (Cooper) Sanders (Ronny Sanders), Joyce P. (Cooper) Uglow (Larry Uglow), and Glenn W. Cooper (Kelli Rocha-Mauricio Cooper); her 12 grandchildren: Geoffrey Cooper, Eric Cooper, Jennifer Goldberg, Carin Mahkovtz, Stephanie Terry, Sara Morris, Nicole Pitts, Casey Orth, Jeremy Uglow, Alex Uglow, Corbin Cooper, and Carter Cooper; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her sister, Carol (Hall) Mason.

She was predeceased by her parents, Walter Carroll Hall and Marie Bernadette (Bradley) Hall; sisters, Gloria (Hall) Lipfert and Elaine (Hall) Rankin; and daughter, Carol A. (Cooper) Terry.

Born on September 14, 1927, in Metuchen, NJ, Marie graduated from Gaithersburg High School in Maryland and went on to study at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA. A resilient polio survivor, Marie lived a strong and wonderful family life full of hobbies and accomplishments. She supported her family in all endeavors, volunteering for Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, the Fox River Saddle Club, the Ladies Golf League at Moor Downs in Waukesha, and golf leagues at Lily Lake in Frostproof, FL. No matter if she was busy organizing a trip, her card club, a golf league, competitive trail ride, or in the booth at horse shows, Marie made it her goal to always be there for family and friends.

She treasured life and traveling with Ted across the country and her time playing golf and bridge. She collected rocks throughout their travels, crafted wood carvings and stained glass art, grew Iris, sewing, and knitting in her spare time. She resides forever and always in our hearts.

A "Party in the Park" celebration of Marie’s life will be held in the summer of 2024. We wish to thank care workers at Avalon Square and the incredible nurses and support staff at Harmony Cares Hospice. For those wishing to remember Marie with a gift, please consider donations to Katy’s Kloset of WaukeshaHarmonyCares of Milwaukee, or the Easterseals of Southeast Wisconsin (Post-Polio support).
