Marcella L. Lahti

March 21, 1941 — March 10, 2024

Waukesha

Marcella Louise (Marcy) Lahti, 82 of Waukesha, died peacefully at home, Sunday, March 10th, ending a 30 plus year struggle with Type 2 Diabetes and its debilitating effects. She was born March 21, 1941, to the late Thomas and Lillian (Barta) Berube.

She was a 1958 graduate of Saxon High School and went on to obtain teaching certificates from Ashland County Teachers College and Northland College. She started out her teaching career in Rhinelander, where she met her future husband, Ira (Mick) Lahti. She eventually ended up in the Milwaukee area raising three boys and substitute teaching. In 1973, when times called for a steadier income, Marcy was hired by J.C. Penney company in Wauwatosa where she worked in the catalog division for over 35 years, retiring as a Customer Service Supervisor.

Marcy enjoyed gardening and reading, usually Harlequin romance novels. She loved to cook large Sunday meals and be surrounded by people. She provided a stable and loving home environment to her grandchildren Garett and Stephanie. She made countless trips back home to the family farm in Saxon to visit and assist her bachelor brothers, Len and Ed, whom she loved dearly. She loved the many trips to New Hampshire to visit and vacation with Dave and his family. She once travelled to Germany to visit Patrick and his children.

Marcy is survived by her siblings, Dolores Hass-Folz and Ed Berube. She is predeceased by her brothers, Gerald and Leonard Berube, as well as her sisters, Mildred Hunn and Theresa Sims.

She leaves behind her son, David (Dave) and his wife, Lisa of New Hampshire and their children: Adrienne, James, Samantha, and Rebecca; as well as her great-grandchildren Axie, Ellis and Leona.  Also, Michael (Mike) of Waukesha and his children, Garett and Stephanie and great-granddaughter, Genevieve. And finally, Patrick (Pat) of Texas and his children, Jeniffer and Lucas of Germany. Marcy is predeceased by her husband, Ira (Mick) Lahti and their daughter, Michelle, who was stillborn.

Marcy’s remains will be interred at Lakeview Cemetary in Saxon later this year.
