Our beloved mom, Linda, passed away on September 16th, 2024, at age 70, in Hartland, WI. Formerly of Racine, WI.
Linda cherished her childhood growing up on the farm in Wesley, IA. She graduated from Corwith-Welsey High School and studied Nursing at Iowa Central College and Early Childhood Education at Iowa State University.
A kindergarten teacher at The Prairie School for 17 years, Linda co-founded Childcare Resource and Referral of Racine and Kenosha County, a non-profit agency, and was an educational consultant with Discovery Toys. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church since 1986, sang bluegrass jams at Apple Holler, and hosted many musical “Garage Gigs” over the years. Linda loved singing, educating, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. A treasured mother, grandmother, and friend, Linda lived gracefully with Parkinson’s Disease for over 20 years; her kindness and love were a gift to everyone who knew her.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Rebeccah (Matthew) Schmidt and Dr. Elizabeth (Ryan Mattsen) Steffensen; her siblings, Sharon Hoffman, Delores (Denny) Glawe, Carol (Steve) Oxley, Kathy Reddel, and Larry (Mary) Reddel; and three grandchildren, Sarah Grace, Caleb James, and Robin Matthew. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family, and dear friends.
Preceded in death by parents, Donna (née Lenz) and Harold Reddel; and brother, Eldon Reddel.
A Celebration of Word and Song in Memory of Linda Steffensen will be held on Saturday, September 28th at 11AM. Church of the Resurrection, W287 N3700 North Shore Drive, Pewaukee, WI 53072. www.churchoftheresurrection.org. A luncheon will follow.
Donations are welcome to help cover the cost of Linda’s memorial service. Please also consider donating a book to your local library in honor of Linda.
