Lester Carl Whaples Jr

Lester Whaples passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on Saturday, January 15, 2022 . After growing up in Rockford, Illinois, Les served as a member of the United States Navy. He volunteered his time as youth group leader at his church as well as a coach for his son’s baseball and soccer teams. He was a very fun-loving, loyal, and God-fearing man. Les is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca, and their children, Mark (and Tanya) Whaples and Renae (and Blake) Niemi ; his grandchildren Tegan, Piper, and Jonah; his sister Tami (Whaples) Harris; his children Karl Whaples and Krissa Whaples with son Malachi. He was preceded in death by his father Lester Carl Whaples, Sr. ; his mother Esther Lucille Whaples of Rockford, Illinois and his stepmother Betty Whaples of Tucson, Arizona. He was also preceded in death by his favorite canine companion of his life, Copper the Beagle.
