Kenneth Arthur Schauer

Kenneth A. Schauer, 76, of De Soto, Wisconsin, formerly of Watertown, entered eternal rest on March 14, 2022. Ken was born in 1946 in Watertown, son of Herbert and Margaret Schauer. He graduated from Watertown High School as part of the Class of 1964. Ken was employed at Ladish Malting Company in Jefferson for 39 years, serving many roles, including maintenance foreman, machinist and skilled welder. Ken married his high school sweetheart, Laverne Schauer, on May 20, 1967 in Lake Mills. Ken was an avid outdoorsman, who loved fishing, hunting, camping, boating and traveling. Ken especially loved sharing his love of the outdoors with his family and friends. Ken and Laverne spent many summers on Lake Michigan, the Mississippi River, Green Lake, and Fox Lake. They later retired to their home in the bluffs near La Crosse as well as becoming snowbirds; first to Gold Canyon, Arizona, and later to Gulf Shores, Alabama. Most of all, Ken cherished spending time with his beloved family. Ken is survived by his children, Kent (Jamie) Schauer of Union Grove, Jennifer (Carter) Aune of Delafield; grandchildren, Bryan of 82nd Airborne Division, Kaden, Payton, Zach, Gage, Carter, Taylor, and Samuel; brother Donald Schauer, sister Ruth Schoenike; his beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, dear friends that he considered family, and companion Sherry Klosinski. Ken is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Laverne; son, Michael; sister Marion Pierce; and his parents. A celebration of life will be held for Ken this summer on Fox Lake where he cherished spending time as a child and later in life with his family. In honor of Ken, donations can be made to St. Jude Children ́s Research Hospital, a charity that he felt very passionate about.
