Kathleen Norine Mack

January 30, 1954 — March 31, 2024

Kathleen (Kathy) Norine Mack, 70, passed peacefully on March 31, 2024, with family present.

Growing up in Wilmette, Illinois, Kathy attended New Trier East High School and volunteered with Urban Gateways. After graduating from the University of Iowa she returned to Chicago, where she lived many years.

Kathy once again gave back to her community, after moving to Waukesha, WI, to be closer to family, through her work with NAMI National Alliance of Mental Health, as a Peer Specialist, even speaking at major events about the importance of advocacy within mental health care. Kathy was also active at Friendships Unlimited, a recreational center for those with mental health issues.

Extremely creative, Kathy mastered many crafts, leaving a legacy of beautiful gifts she made for loved ones. Even in the weakened state of her last months and in defiance of her failing eyesight, she taught much appreciated classes in beadwork for her Residence Care neighbors.

She was dearly loved by family and friends, and her contagious laugh brightened many a room.

Preceded in death by her parents, John G. Mack and Catherine Martin Mack, Kathy is survived by seven siblings: Marjie O’Connor, Mike (Suellen) Mack, Mary Studer, Maureen (Peter) Wagener, Sheila Savio (Mike Winnemuller), Theresa (Torsten) Ek, and John Mack; and eight nieces and nephews: Jeffrey (Dena) Williams, Regan (Brian) Holt, Mike (Carly) Savio, Lyz (Dan) Pappenfus, Catherine (Geoff) Cimpl, Matthew Wagener, Daniel Wagener, and Sarah Ek.

There will be a Celebration of Life, the date to be announced at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to NAMI National Alliance of Mental Health.
