Karen was deeply passionate about her Christian faith, which sustained & carried her through many of life’s struggles, heartaches, losses, & disappointments. She eagerly shared her faith and was always willing to tell as many people as she could about Jesus. She attended many different Bible studies throughout her life to help her continue learning & growing in her faith.
She lovingly adored & cherished her husband, Chuck, and poured unconditional love, time, and attention into her children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren. She also deeply cared for & loved spending time with others while hosting many social gatherings for friends and family in their Brookfield home and at Nature’s Villa where she & Chuck even took up line dancing.
Karen had a wonderful sense of humor and often lightened the mood with her “corny” jokes to help others feel comfortable. When she had to use a walker or wheelchair for mobility, she would quite often challenge others to a race, which probably was inspired by her many years spent at “Great Lakes Dragaway” or attending many classic car shows & “cruise nights” with Chuck. She also jokingly told her physicians that her family could sell her many “steel and titanium parts” after she passed away to help cover her funeral expenses.
Karen was very kind hearted and blessed with a special gift for loving and caring for children. This is the reason she opened her in-home childcare business & rightfully named it, “Karen’s Kids”, which she successfully operated for over 25 years and was built solely on word of mouth & recommendations from the families she served. Her love for children was quite evident in the close relationships she shared with her grandchildren and her active involvement in their lives. She faithfully attended their many different events, volunteered in their classrooms, enjoyed weekly lunches with them, & even took time to read to the students sharing her passion & love of books with future generations. She also had many other interests such as playing word, card, or board games with family and friends and joined many different kinds of clubs. Karen loved trying “new recipes” which was quite evident with the many newspaper food clippings she collected over the years. She also delighted in passing the love of baking on to her grandkids, often inviting them into the kitchen to learn alongside her. Quite often she would test their Bible knowledge, guiding them in their faith and nurturing their relationship and love for the Lord, all while praying for them daily.
Although Karen struggled with many physical health issues throughout her earthly life, she was always willing to share her testimony of the goodness, character, and faithfulness of the One True Living God because she knew He was her provider, healer, sustainer, and the defender of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Karen’s family is extremely thankful for the countless friends and family who generously gave of their time to assist with her many needs; whether it was driving her to a doctor’s appointment, shopping for her, or simply visiting & spending some time with her. They are also deeply grateful for her time at New Perspective and for the care she received there. Karen cherished the meaningful relationships she developed over the past 4 years while her final days were spent at Lindengrove, in Mukwonago where she received exceptional care, kindness, and attention.
