Karen M. Dropp aka Super Mom 1950 - 2021 Heaven’s gain our loss. Karen Dropp (nee Schmidt), 71, The Villages Florida/New Berlin, Wisconsin died peacefully on December 17, 2021 at her Wisconsin home with family at her side. She is survived by her husband of 46 years James, children Brian, Jeff, and Brenda. Also 5 grandchildren Addy, Violet, Marley, Lena, and John. And many, many friends and acquaintances. Karen Marie was born on October 25, 1950 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Ervin and Elenora (Schilling) Schmidt. She graduated from Messmer High School in Milwaukee. Karen got her Bachelors degree from UW Milwaukee and became a Medical Technologist. She worked in the lab at St. Josephs hospital in Milwaukee and eventually the combined lab in Wauwatosa serving the Wheaton group of hospitals in the Milwaukee area. She finished her career at St. Francis hospital in Milwaukee in 2013. She loved her work and the many co workers in her chosen field. Karen was not only a super mom to her kids foremost, and a Medical Technologist, but worked alongside her husband in creating their business, South Side Rentals on the southside of the city. They renovated, kept ownership and ran these residential and small commercial properties for 40 plus years finally selling out and retiring in 2017. Her interests after family were motorcycling with her husband Jim. They were members of The Harley Owner Group (HOG), Kettle Moraine Chapter, traveling much of The United States and Canada, and A 30 day ride on a rental Harley in New Zealand. The club enabled Karen and Jim to be active in many motorcycle charity rides benefiting local groups including the MLS kids camps and Fire Department burn camp in East Troy Wisconsin. She enjoyed traveling and seeing new cultures whether it was on the back of Jim’s Harley or a luxury cruise, she had a curious mind. Karen was a financial backer of a number of religious charities. A member of The Muskego Women’s club running the annual pre Christmas Peppermint craft fair for many years. Karen was preceded in death by her parents: Ervin and Elenora, brothers Ken and Roger, parent in law John B. Dropp. Services will be held at St. Leonard Catholic Church (W173S7743 Westwood Dr, Muskego, WI 53150) on Thursday, December 30, 2021. A visitation will be held from 1:30 pm until 3:15 pm with Mass starting at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations appreciated to United for Waukesha Community Fund, Waukesha County Community Foundation, or to the United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County have joined together to create the “United for Waukesha Community Fund.”
