JOHN JACOB BREITWIESER (born Johann Jakob Breitwieser) passed away on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017 at the age of 92. He was born in Zagorze, Poland to Karl and Berta (nee Wanke) Breitwieser. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Aloisia Maria Breitwieser and sister Elisabeth Koch. John will be missed every single day by his "three girls": devoted daughters Gerda Breitwieser (and husband James Wilson) and Marie Redjinski, and by adoring granddaughter Ashley T. Redjinski. John is mourned deeply by lifelong friends Eduard "Edi" and Elisabeth "Betti" Pichler. "Onkel Hans" will also be missed and fondly remembered by extended family in Germany and Toronto.
John always said that every day was a gift to be enjoyed, and we will all try to live by his example. He will be particularly remembered for seeing beauty in the simple things (flowers, hummingbirds, a good slice of cake) and for his belief in tradition, craftsmanship, and the stock market. In our hearts and in our thoughts, he will live forever.
The family is eternally grateful to the Vitas hospice caregivers, as well as the nurses and caregivers at Regency ProHealth Care in Brookfield, who comforted John and his family over the last year and a half and in his final days. In particular, to Jeremy, whose conversation (from politics to John Wayne movies) and company he enjoyed immensely, to Kim, who shared his interest in the stock market, and to Tina, who looked after him with such love. Your kindnesses will not be forgotten.
