“Well F##k!”
Jennifer Maria Johnston, lovingly known as “JJ,” passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, at the age of 50. Though her time with us was far too short, JJ lived a vibrant, full life defined by compassion, adventure, and a fiercely independent spirit.
Born and raised in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, JJ never lost her Southern roots—even after more than two decades in Wisconsin. She carried that warm, fiery Southern soul with her wherever she went. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and dedicated her professional life to helping others heal and thrive, most recently with Centerwell Certified Healthcare Corporation.
JJ had an unshakable love for the outdoors—especially hiking with her loved ones—and she could often be found running local trails, diving into a new book, or chasing the next great concert. She had a restless spirit for travel and a curious heart that led her to explore the world, one unforgettable trip at a time.
Her kindness extended far beyond her circle. JJ donated her time and energy to causes that mattered deeply to her, including MADDAC and the Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation’s Summer Camp for Burn Injured Youth.
Those who truly knew JJ knew her strength, her wit (yes, often colorful), and the enormous heart she carried beneath that famously tough exterior. She was authentic in every sense—bold, loving, and unapologetically herself. To be loved by JJ was to be chosen, protected, and always reminded to live life on your own terms.
JJ is survived by her partner, Ryan Landry, her beloved dog, Kona, and a close-knit group of friends who became family. Her presence in their lives was a gift they will cherish forever.
Per her wishes, there will be no traditional memorial service. JJ asked to be cremated and wanted those who loved her to gather for a celebration of life at a later date—a gathering filled with laughter, stories, and good music, just as she would’ve wanted. She hoped to be remembered with a smile, a favorite song playing in the background, and a story on everyone’s lips.
She was one of a kind. She will be missed beyond measure—and remembered beyond words.
