Jayne Peterson Hinkens

Jayne Peterson Hinkens, age 68, of Brookfield, WI, passed away on November 28, 2023. She was born on August 20, 1955, in Elkhorn, WI, to the late William and Marjorie Peterson.

Jayne was a kind, generous, and loving woman who touched the lives of many. She was known for her warm and giving nature, always willing to lend a helping hand (especially with cleaning) or provide a batch of baked goods. She had a strong Christian faith, and upon being diagnosed with brain cancer was at peace with whatever God held in store for her.

Jayne dedicated her career to education, working for decades as a 6th-grade English teacher and more recently as a mentor at Brookfield Academy in Brookfield, WI. Jayne's passion for teaching inspired countless students and fellow teachers throughout her career.

Outside of work, Jayne had a variety of hobbies that brought her joy. She was proud of the fact that she regularly achieved well over 10,000 steps a day and she loved reading and spending quality time with her family. Jayne cherished every moment spent with her husband Steve; their children, Emily, Alison, and Andrew; grandchildren, Grace, Katherine, and Lauren; and her siblings, Jay, Jill, and Jack.

Jayne was an active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Delafield, WI, where she found solace and strength in her faith. A memorial service will be held at the church on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Visitation will be from 9:30-12 pm. Service at 12 (noon). Lunch to follow. In memory of Jayne and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Lutheran World Relief.

The caring professionals at Cremation Society of Waukesha in Brookfield, WI, are assisting the family with the arrangements during this difficult time.

Jayne will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her spirit of warmth and love will live on in those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
