With his family by his side, James "Jim" A. Sagat passed away on January 22, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born on December 28, 1946, in Racine, WI, he was the beloved husband of 52 years to Christine and the cherished father of Jamie (John) Jewell, Christopher (Nelson), and Peter (Lindsay). James was also a proud grandfather of five loving grandchildren: Carter, Ava, Natalie, Jacob, and Connor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Virginia Sagat, and his brother, John Sagat. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Sagat (Denise); sister, Mary Jo Howe (Kevin); sister-in-law, Marilee Sagat; along with many nieces and nephews.
Jim honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, after which he earned an Associate Degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering. He became an FAA Licensed Airframe and Power Plant mechanic, and later in his career, James proudly worked for Northwest and Delta Airlines, where he worked until his retirement. Outside of his profession, Jim had a deep passion for woodworking, crafting beautiful furniture and intricate clocks that will be cherished for generations. He found joy in working with his hands and took immense pride in the things that he built.
