Gregory Thomas Hook

November 14, 1962 — June 9, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of our beloved son & brother Gregory T. Hook, age 58, on June 9th. Greg was born on November 14, 1962 in Alameda, CA to Corey & Barbara (DeJong) Hook, joining his sister Betsy. Greg was 3 years old when Corey was transferred from his Oakland, CA office of FMC to Green Bay. While Greg attended Webster Elementary School he met his lifelong friend Jim Berg at Bethel Baptist church on 4th & Maple St. In later years, Jim was co-author of The Duct Tape books. Greg's family lived in Allouez until 1974 when Corey was transferred to Tustin, CA. After one year they were moved back to Allouez. Greg graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1981. He attended UWGB and became interested in photography. In 1985 Greg joined his parents in moving to Olympia, WA, where he attended Evergreen State College majoring in photography. As part of the curriculum he worked as a photographer for the local newspaper. On one day he photographed the Governor's wife on the Capitol steps & later a group of Legislators. In 1987, after his parents returned back to Allouez one more time, Greg moved to Seattle. He worked with a commercial photographic studio for some time. His next job was a cabdriver, and had many interesting (and some harrowing) experiences. He then worked as a handyman doing detailed home restoration work. In his off times, he was a "drummer in a rock-n-roll band" with friends that quickly became his extended family. In 2006, Greg returned to his family in Allouez. He was employed for many years as a handyman with Derek Mills. In 2018, he quit this job to remain at home as a fulltime Caregiver for Corey, until Corey passed away in November 2019. After Corey's passing he continued taking on the household & maintenance responsibilities for Barbara & the home. Not only were Betsy & Greg siblings they were best of friends. Betsy spent many days through his recent illness as his loving advocate securing his well being. Greg was talented in many areas. He was kind, generous, loving & had a great subtle sense of humor. He gathered good friends throughout his life. He leaves behind a heartbroken extended family of friends in Seattle and here in Wisconsin. We will all sorely miss his personality & creative spirit. Greg is survived by his mother Barbara & his sister Betsy. As well as, aunts, uncles & cousins in California, Hawaii, Mexico, Michigan, & New York. He was preceded in death by his father, Corey, four grandparents, two aunts & two uncles.
