Grant Thaddeus Heffelfinger

December 1, 1988 — February 14, 2022

Monday, February 14, 2022, our dear son Grant Thaddeus Heffelfinger passed away suddenly at 33 years old. Some of you may have known him as “Scooby”, “Grantabulous”, or “Boochy Boy”. Grant was born on December 1, 1988, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, fashionably late as we knew him to sometimes be. Grant graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a B.S. in Kinesiology and earned a Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders. He advocated the promotion of Diversity and Inclusion, treating everyone with dignity and respect. Grant connected his passions and his work at Ascent Wellness Program (AWP) in Milwaukee where he was able to improve the lives of many people. Grant loved travel and learning about the many cultures and people he met along the way. There was always a “where next” list that he kept on his wall for the next opportunity to hit the road. Grant loved to maintain an active lifestyle and placed fitness and health as critical components of his life. These same attributes were passed on to the many people he touched along the way. Grant spent time as a Beerleader cheering on the BrewCity Bruisers Roller Derby Teams. He was the V.P. of the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (UWM) LGBTQ+ Alumni Chapter, and also the Accessibility Director for Milwaukee Pride Fest. His energy was channeled into everything he was involved in. Grant’s infectious smile, kindness, and compassion was felt by all who he met. He was loved by so many and will be missed dearly. He is survived by parents John and Julia Heffelfinger, siblings Heather Fink, Austin Heffelfinger, Ethan Heffelfinger, and numerous relatives and friends.
