Gloria May Polk

Gloria May Polk, age 86, affectionately known as Glory, was peacefully born to eternal life on May 11, 2024. Glory was born on August 25, 1937 to Lula and William Cieslewicz. She was raised in the Milwaukee area along with three sisters and one brother. It was during this time she learned her desire and calling in life was to become a loving wife and mother, and that’s what she became.

Glory graduated from Shorewood High School in 1954. Earlier that year, at a family wedding celebration, she met Leander (Lee). It was truly love at first sight. On December 10th,1955 Gloria married her soulmate and the love of her life Lee Polk, who preceded her in death. It was so easy to see the love and care each one had for the other. Glory and Lee were inseparable and created a beautiful life together.

Glory dedicated her life to her friends and family, who will miss her dearly. She quickly earned the title, “best mom ever.” She is survived by her four children: David (Tina) Polk, Timothy (Elizabeth) Polk, Richard Polk, and Terri (Mark) Herrmann. Family meant everything to Glory.

The love for her family continued as Glory played an active role as an awesome “Granny Glo.” She is also survived by her grandchildren: Carlene Polk, Samuel (Michelle) Polk, Jacob (Susie) Polk, Mitchell (Maleah) Polk, Grace Herrmann, and Zachary Herrmann. In addition, Gloria was blessed with five great grandchildren. Each one of her grandchildren fondly remembers her warmth, love, and amazing sense of humor.

Glory was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee, as well as her brother Bill, her sisters Nancy and Joan, and parents William and Lula. She is survived by her sister, and best friend, Sharon (Richard) Kohls.

A service to celebrate Gloria’s life will be held on May 28, 2024 at Saint Gabriel Parish in Hubertus, WI. Visitation will begin at 11:30 am with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 1pm. A reception will be held in the hall of the church at 2 pm.

To know Glory was to love her. She will be greatly missed.
