George James Katsafanas, age 70, of Pewaukee passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on July 27, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Demothenes Katsafanas, William Haynes and Helen Haynes. George was a devoted friend and family man and believed in living every day to its fullest surrounded by the people he loved so dearly. Surviving are his beloved wife of 22 years, Angela, his siblings Parry (Debbie), Thomas (Jennifer) and Kristen, children Elaney, Kassandra, Anthony (Emily), Laura (Mitchell) and Natalie (Jason) and grandchildren Liam, Keira, Emma, Xander, Ellie, Zoe, Theo and Lyla and numerous relatives and friends.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, graduate of Evanston High School and Southern Illinois University and a career long “car guy” George was passionate about supporting and developing others and could be counted on to bring charm and humor into every situation. A master of knowledge and skillful navigator of facts, he loved a good debate and only a rare few were capable of outwitting him. An avid Chicago sports fan (despite the years of heartbreak), he maintained a love of music, was an excellent consultant for television and film recommendations and was the best road trip and travel companion. He enjoyed attending Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) airshows with his son and found immense joy hanging out at the park, pool and on the floor with his grandchildren.
A celebration of George’s life will take place at a later date with details to follow.
