George Otto Dengel, 88, was called home to his Lord and Savior, surrounded by loved ones, on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024.
George was born in Milwaukee, WI, on June 6, 1935. He attended 12th St. School and graduated from Pewaukee High School. George went on to study at Milwaukee Vocational School and started working in the construction industry at an early age.
George married the love of his life, Sandra Lee Hay, on September 19, 1959, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, WI. George and Sandra had 3 children and relocated to Sussex, WI to raise their family. They enjoyed a beautiful 64 years of marriage together.
George loved fishing, bowling, going up north, and playing cards. He was an avid Brewers and Packers fan. George was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for 54 years and his church family meant a great deal to him. He was known for his kind heart, fun sense of humor, wisdom, and eternal optimism. He will be deeply missed by many.
George is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (nee Hay); his daughters, Vicki Shiroda and Wendy (Tim) Thorn; grandchildren: Andrew, Josh, Erin, Anna, Jordan (Olivia), Jessie (Jake), and George; and his great-grandchildren: Harper, Lyric, and Dawson. George now joins his parents, George and Alice (nee Brueckner); his in-laws, John and Mildred Hay (nee Gottsacker); his siblings, Jimmy and Janet; and his son, Doug, in eternal rest.
A visitation in remembrance of George will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 4:00 PM, followed by a service at 5:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church, located at N48W18700 Lisbon Rd, Menomonee Falls, WI 53051. A livestream will be available on the church’s Facebook page for those that cannot attend in person.
