George Aloysius Kuchler

March 26, 1926 — August 10, 2019

George A. Kuchler At the age of 93, George died at Angel’s Grace Hospice and is now with Jesus. Anita, his devoted wife of 43 years, cared for George for five years after he suffered a stroke. He is also survived by daughters Angela Skurulsky (Fred), Michelle Edwards (Chad), and Tosca Russo (Bill), seven grand children, eight great grandchildren, and many friends. His deceased son, Fred Kuchler passed away at 32 years of age. George grew up on his grandfather's farm in Bavaria, Germany. In 1937 when he was eleven, his mother took him to live in America where he learned to speak and read English in the Milwaukee public schools.Because he loved to read, he became bi-lingual and developed an outstanding vocabulary in English. When he was eighteen, he joined the army. He hoped to become a pilot, but because he hadn't been a citizen for ten years, he had to take second choice - the 17th Airborne division. After his first term in action as a paratrooper he joined for a second term, this time as an interpreter in war-torn Austria occupied by the Americans after WWll. After serving for five years, he returned to America and attended Layton Art School for two and half years. He was then gainfully employed as an artist lithographer at Mueller Color Plate Co. for 38 years and then at KZG for 11 years. George enjoyed a variety of activities such as performing the SCHUHPLATTLERVEREIN with the German D'ludtigen Wendlstoana dance group of Milwaukee and skiing in Aspen and Vail, Colorado. In 1954, he became the Wisconsin Middle Weight- Lifting Champion of Wisconsin. George who had always been interested in body-building and physical fitness opened the Sidney Hill Health Spa in the 1960s. He continued as an artist while teaching weight- lifting as a health benefit for the body. Over the years, he and his wife and his children enjoyed riding his Quarter horse and his Appaloosa. George ably cared for his horses as his grandfather had back in Bavaria. The couple also enjoyed many clubs: the Austrian-American Society, People to People and World View. In addition, George became a mason and joined the Aurora Masonic Lodge. Also, he loved classical music, and he and Anita attended many concerts performed by the Wisconsin Philharmonic Orchestra. After his many working years, he started designing heraldic shields from various European countries. His work was highly sought after by German restaurants and the citizenry of the area. Latterly, he painted the many beautiful birds of Wisconsin. He lived a full and active life and now, hallelujah, he is at home with the Lord. He is a happy man. Many bouquets of gratitude to Dr. Saien, Mandy Rockwerger. Jesa Lempke, and Jeff and Nancy Stumpf for helping Anita make George's life more comfortable.
