Gary Jon La Mantia

Gary Jon La Mantia passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the age of 78. He was born on September 13, 1944 in Lackawanna, New York, to parents, Corinne and Anthony La Mantia. He is survived by his three children; daughters, Gina and Jennifer; and son, Timothy. He was a proud grandfather to loving grandsons, Hayden and Logan. He is also survived by his brother, Tom La Mantia, and was preceded in death by both of his parents, Corinne and Anthony La Mantia. Gary also is survived by other close relatives and many dear friends.

Gary was a veteran of the United States Air Force and his last duty assignment and major command was in the 49th Supply Squadron. Gary served over seas in Germany and the Philippines. He received an honorable discharge on October 1, 1965. While in the Air Force, Gary made life-long friendships with fellow Airmen. Many of these veteran friends were in touch with Gary in his final days. Gary earned a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in real estate and finance in 1972 from California State University of Northridge. He was a corporate real estate executive in the areas of acquisition, development, finance, management, and marketing of diverse real estate projects located throughout the Southwestern United States. Gary was vice-president of Cal FED Enterprises and NUWEST Inc. before venturing out on his own establishing GLM Commercial, a commercial real estate finance company. During his career in real estate finance, he financed over $500 million in loans! Gary had a passion for walking, playing tennis, and riding his bike on the Huntington Beach, CA, bike path. He was an avid and loyal UCLA basketball and football fan. In his younger days, Gary enjoyed playing pick-up basketball games in local parks and gyms, as well as shooting baskets with his family, especially his grandson. In accordance with Gary’s wishes, no services will be held. Gary’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the amazing staff of angels at ProHealth Care’s Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
