Ena Mollie Lantz of Delafield, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022 at the age of 89.
Mollie was born March 15, 1932 in Elgin Iowa to Clarence and Bessie Hofer. She graduated from West Union High in 1949 at the age of 17. She met her husband LaVerne Lantz that summer, was engaged by Christmas and married the next June. They welcomed their only child Victor the following March.
Mollie was a graduate of UW-Milwaukee where she also received her Master of Science in Teaching degree. She taught 4th grade as well as Gifted and Talented Elementary Math and Science. She was responsible for developing the Gifted and Talented program in Pewaukee and was the K-12 Coordinator for the district. She was a teacher in Pewaukee for 36 years where she received the following awards: WI Exemplary Elementary Science Teacher, WI Gifted and Talented Teach of the Year and was nominated as a National Teacher of the Year. She also enjoyed substitute teaching in her retirement. Mollie truly had a passion for teaching and cared deeply about her students. Her other interests included gardening, sewing, curling, golf, walking and traveling. As anyone who knew her would tell you, Mollie never met a stranger. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, and often did, and you would never know they had just met. She was a beloved member of the Delafield community.
Mollie is survived by her son Victor, his wife Millie as well as their two daughters Alexa and Brittany. She is also survived by her sisters Darlene (Bill) Nieth, Alice Hofer, her brother Dean Hofer as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends and former students.
Due to COVID concerns, a celebration of Life will be planned for Mollie in the Spring.
