Edward Angelo Matarrese of New Berlin, WI, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the age of 91 ½.
Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Celine Ewens Matarrese; both his parents, Palmira and Michele Matarrese; and his three brothers, Lawrence, Michael, and Roger Matarrese. He is survived by his son, Gregory Matarrese; his daughter, Michele Matarrese Leach; his brother, Armand Matarrese; his grandchildren, Anthony and Angela Matarrese, and Melodi and Matthew King; and two great-grandchildren, Crosby and Ella King.
After serving in the US Army as a photographer, Edward worked as a lithographer for several years in Kenosha, WI. He decided to go back to school and earned a BBA and MBA from the University of Wisconsin, at which time he became a manager at S&M Rotogravure Services. Ed enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life including car rallying and photography in his younger years, then golf and computers after he retired. He was also an avid biker, completing the Milwaukee 76 bicentennial ride every summer for several years. He stayed active and continued walking regularly as long as he could. Ed was a life-long learner, particularly known for his knowledge of computers, and shared his talent by creating and managing a website for his golf league. He also volunteered locally to assist the elderly with their income taxes.
Edward’s family will honor his long and blessed life with a private celebration in July. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and will forever be in our hearts.
