Douglas “Doug” Robinson, died peacefully at his home in Cedar Grove, WI, on Monday, August 19th, 2024. He was 88 years old.
The family will greet visitors at the Robinson home located in Cedar Grove, WI, on Saturday, September 14th, 2024, from 11am-4pm. Private interment at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Wauwatosa, WI.
Doug was born on February 10, 1936, in Milwaukee, to the late Worth and Marge (Hamond) Robinson. He graduated from Riverside High School in Milwaukee. Doug was united in marriage to Carolyn Suchomski in August 1958; they celebrated 65 years of marriage together before Carolyn’s death in April 2024. He was also preceded in death by his dear sister Marlyn (the late Louis) Germanotta.
He is survived by his children: Deborah (the late Gary) Oseland, Patricia (Darrell) Roberts, and Kevin Robinson; his beloved grandchildren, Nick (Chloe) Roberts and Emily Roberts (Jake Muckerheide); as well as his dear great-grandson, Warner Roberts. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Doug had many interests, the biggest of which was slow-pitch softball. He played and was a manager for many different teams and often on multiple days per week over the course of 35 years. He was the long-time president of the Big 8 Classic softball league, the finest amateur league in the Milwaukee area, winning tournaments throughout Wisconsin and the mid-west. Several softball players were like big brothers to the Robinson children and extended members of the Robinson family. In addition to softball, Doug was a very good bowler and bowled on a league at Bluemound Bowl for many years.
Doug had a love for Cadillac cars, especially the Coupe de Ville and Eldorado, and drove them most of his adult life. He also had a special bond with his pets, which included many dogs, and in recent years his beloved cat, Tiger.
During his working years Doug was a lithographer at Mueller Color Plate (later MCP company) for 40 years. He advanced to shop foreman before retiring at the age of 62. After retirement from full-time employment, he kept himself busy working for Amato Cadillac (later Amato Nissan) as a courtesy driver, he enjoyed talking to many different people as he drove them home or to their place of employment while their vehicle was being serviced.
The family would like to thank caregivers, Sandy and Kelly, for their excellent care of both mom & dad over the last 2 years. Without their caring and dedication, it would not have been possible for them to remain in their own home. We would also like to thank the staff from Richardson Community Hospice for their help and support during Dad’s final weeks.
Memorials can be directed to Cedar Grove Veterinary Services, Cedar Grove, WI (https://www.cgvet.com/) OR Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, Sheboygan Falls, WI.
