Douglas P. Abbott, “Doug,” passed away on December 28th, 2024, at the age of 90.
Doug was born to Douglas G. & Lucille E. (nee Wagner) in Hartford on December 17,1934. In January 1954, he joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1966. He was united in marriage to Susan (Sue) Graf on September 20, 1985. Doug was the manager of the Bluemound Drive-In theatre which was the first drive-in movie theatre in Wisconsin. He was a longtime bartender at the Speedway Inn, which he enjoyed because it gave him the opportunity to socialize. He enjoyed all sports, especially watching Brewers and Packer games, and he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Sue. He was a past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 1825 in Waukesha, and a past commander of the American Legion Post 71 in Pewaukee.
Doug is survived by his son, Kurt (Suzanne) Abbott; cherished grandchildren, Christina, Gabrielle, and Matthew (Dina) Abbott; great-grandson, Andrew; and dear sibling, Dianne Abbott. He is further survived by loved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sue; his parents, Douglas and Lucille Abbott; and siblings; Donald (Lenore) Abbott, Dorothy (Tom) Waddell, Richard (Mary) Abbott, and Tom (Delores) Abbott.
A visitation will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 818 N East Ave, Waukesha, WI 53186, on Saturday, September 20th at 10:00 am, followed by a prayer service at 11:00 am.
Private interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hartford, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.
