Obituary

Diana Lee Krohn (nee Sametz) was born on December 17, 1939, to Joseph and Alice Sametz (nee Dedynksi), in Milwaukee. She passed away peacefully on December 18th, after a short bout of pneumonia at the age of 86 with her children by her side.

Predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Warren, and brothers, Richard and Ronald. Survived by her sister, Arlene Sametz; her daughter, Jodi Mommaerts; and son, John (Sue) Mueller. Further survived by her grandchildren: Ryan, Jessica, and Brayden: her nieces and nephews: Scott (Amy) Kolesari, David Kolesari, Jeff Bergum, James (Debbie) Bergum, Julianne (Chad) Bohne; Sister-in-Law, Marilyn (Guy) Bergum; and great nieces, nephews, and friends, especially those at Oak Hill Terrace (Waukesha, WI).

Diana was an avid gardener who spent endless hours ensuring that her yard in New Berlin was meticulously kept with flowers that welcomed you the minute you turned into her drive. She helped run several successful businesses with her husband and was a supporter of New Berlin Eisenhower high school athletics; often throwing end of season athletic parties and participating in fundraisers to help light the fields. Diana and her husband loved to travel with frequent trips to Las Vegas, RV road trips to National Parks, and summer holidays spent at their cabin in Manitowish Waters. She enjoyed supporting the Green Bay Packers and would say prayers for their success. She loved sweets, and you could win her over with chocolates or a strawberry shake.

Diana loved her children and supported them in all their endeavors, sitting sidelines at football, baseball, and softball games during high school; and encouraging them in their careers, and offering care and advice when they became parents. As her grandchildren participated in school and sporting activities, she would be there cheering them on. You could always spot her bundled up and smiling on the sidelines. She was a proud mom and grandma and the best hype person – always making you feel good.

She spent her last 12 years at Oak Hill Terrace where she reignited her passion for crafting, found new joy in singing with the choir, and performing in plays. In the last few years, Diana was one of the ambassadors there, often the first to welcome new residents. Her kind spirit and caring for others made her perfect for this role. She always had a book in her hand and a place to be, taking full advantage of the activities offered. As a two-time breast cancer survivor, Diana was always on top of her health and stayed active through long walks, exercise classes, and even tai-chi. She led weekly rosaries and often quizzed her grandchildren on a new fact she learned from travelogue or history talks. Her humor, love, and support will be missed by many.
