Denise Bennett

April 25, 1935 — October 13, 2021

Denise Bennett, nee Macklin, (86) went peacefully home on October 13, 2021. Dennie was born on April 25, 1935 in Milwaukee, WI. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, she married Walter Bennett in 1957. Together they started Walter Bennett Enterprises and built it into a successful business that comfortably supported their growing family. Also an active volunteer, Dennie shared her skills with numerous groups. She coordinated troops and leadership for the local Girl Scouts, served on several committees at her churches, worked as a scorekeeper on USGA and PGA tournaments and served as a poll worker, to name just a few. It wasn’t all work though. Walt and Dennie loved to throw parties almost as much as they loved going to them. As a devoted Mom, she attended everything from flutophone concerts to sporting events in which her children and grandchildren participated. Preceded in death by her husband Walt, parents Chester and Adeline Macklin, daughter Collette and sister Beverly Brenner, Dennie leaves behind many loving family members and friends. Her children Diane (Bill), Lisa (Terry), Michelle (Kuy) and Walter (Sandy), grandchildren Billie, Michael, Shanna, Corey, Alec and Ian and great grandchildren Nesto and Viviana, mourn her loss, but are comforted that she is together again with her beloved Walt. A gathering to celebrate Dennie’s life will be held at St. John Vianney Parish on Saturday, December 4th. Visitation will be at 11:00, the funeral Mass at 12:00 noon with a lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a gift to Covenant House, a favored charity of Dennie’s (www.covenanthouse.org ).
