A friend to many, grandmother to 7, mother to 4, true love to 1, Debbie Montoya (Walther) passed away on Saturday, March 7th, 2020 surrounded by those that loved her most. She was a fighter until the end.
During her time with us, Debbie showed those in her life how she loved unconditionally. She worked hard to give to others without expecting anything in return. She always fully supported her children in all their endeavors no matter how crazy they may have seemed.
With mis-matched socks she wore everyday of her life, she loved spending every moment she could with her grandchildren. They would have fun sleepovers watching old, cheesy movies together. Debbie also loved hosting family dinners and sharing her gift of crocheting with anyone that was willing to learn.
Debbie will be greatly missed by her life-long friend and one true love Jose Montoya. Brother-in-law Martin Montoya. Brother Howard Walther. Her children, Anthony (Desarae) Montoya, Jeremy (Lindsey) Montoya, Danielle Montoya, and Alexis (Alejandro) Montoya. Her grandchildren Aiden, Bruce, Drake, Estella, Logan, Leela & Lee. She will also be missed by her beloved animal companions Potato & Dude and also many more family and friends.
The family wishes to send out a huge thank you to her friends Lori Jassoy and Darell Byczynski for their watchful support and care. Also, to Kimmy Hickey and Darin Scheel.
A special thank you to all the nurses with Heartland, who were there to help make her last days with us as comfortable as possible.
Debbie was greeted by her parents Howard and Joan Walther along with many aunts and uncles.
A celebration of life is currently planned for late May. In lieu of flowers, Debbie had requested donations be made to St. Jude’s or The Shriners.
