David William Blavat

February 14, 1947 — July 14, 2024

Brookfield

David William Blavat passed away peacefully on July 14th, at the age of 77, at his home in Brookfield surrounded by his family. Born on February 14, 1947, in South Milwaukee, WI. David was a man of love, laughter, and bringing joy to others.

David graduated in 1965 from South Milwaukee High School and was a proud Rawson boy. David had a retail career which led him to places like Tucson, New Orleans, and Fond du Lac. Later in life, David spent time working in Health Insurance. His love of people and relationships brought him joy daily within his work.

David was a cherished husband of 52 years to Gail; loving Father to Nicholas Blavat (Jennifer), Trisha Vandre (Benjamin), Bradley Christians (Elizabeth) and Jennifer Ruter; Grandpa to Noah, Grace, and Hannah Blavat, and grand pup, Firefly Vandre; Brother to Diane Czarnecki and Louise (Mike) Mahoney; Beloved Brother-in-law to Darlene and John Ehrmann; and an Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

David loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching and attending his favorite Wisconsin sports teams (Brewers, Packers, Bucks, and Badgers). Along with that, he enjoyed traveling "up north" to Manitowish Waters and other Northern Wisconsin lakes to pursue his passion of fishing. David’s favorite holiday was Christmas; for many years, his home in Fond du Lac was known for its extravagant holiday light display.

Ever since being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in the late 90s, David became passionate and involved with raising awareness and funds for various MS organizations. Some of his accomplishments included coordinating with the MS Society of WI to create a MS Walk in Fond du Lac, creating an annual charity golf outing in the Fox Valley, and once he moved to Brookfield, he championed an annual charity golf outing for MS in the Milwaukee area. Now in its 4th year, it has raised over $100,000 to benefit his favorite nonprofit MS organization, MS Just Keep Moving.

David will forever be remembered for his storytelling, his love for family, life, and personable characteristics. David will always be known for his eagerness to create valuable life experiences.

David's wish was not to have a memorial service but a celebration of life for immediate family and close friends.
