Dani passed away Tuesday, September 3rd, at Angels Grace Hospice. She was born in February of 1957, to Sharyn Storken and James Kellogg in Salem, Oregon. She is survived by her husband, two brothers, her two sons and their spouses, and four grandchildren. She grew up living only 40 minutes from the Pacific Ocean on the Oregon coast and spent many an enjoyable day on the beaches. She moved with her family to Waukesha in 1998 following a job transfer for her husband. Once here, she worked at a funeral home and became interested in the study of death and dying. She received a Certificate in Thanatology through Marquette University and worked as a grief counselor at Stillwaters. Stillwaters was a grief support organization funded through Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She also organized and ran grief groups through St. Williams Catholic Parish, her local church.
She enjoyed crafting early on and made and sold painted wooden cut outs of seasonal subjects she sold at craft fairs around the area. From this rough beginning she began creating artwork in mixed media, developing styles of her own and using techniques acquired from others. For the past several years she taught art classes to her friends in the art community, and to others, just beginning to learn the mixed media art form. She also enjoyed creating beautiful journals for her and her friends. More than crafting and creating art, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, spoiling them just like her mother spoiled Dani’s two sons. They were the light of her life.
Funeral services will be held at St. William Catholic Church in Waukesha at 440 North Moreland Blvd on Thursday, September 26th, beginning at 10:00AM for viewing, and 10:30AM for the service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Angel’s Grace Hospice (https://www.prohealthcare.org/ways-to-give/) in Oconomowoc, WI.
