Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cory Goodnetter, who peacefully went home on June 14, 2026, at the age of 32, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Cory was born on April 11, 1994, in Brookfield, Wisconsin, to John and Leslie Goodnetter. From the very beginning, Cory brought laughter, kindness, and joy to the lives of those around him.

Cory was known for his compassionate, resilient, and loving personality. He had a special way of making people laugh, feel welcome, and included. Those who knew Cory will remember him as an outstanding dog dad to Oakley, an incredible Packer fan, fantasy football fanatic, poker player, workout enthusiast, outdoorsman, loyal friend, and the greatest son and brother. The bond Cory shared with Oakley was truly special, and he was one of the greatest joys in Cory’s life. They say dogs are the best judges of character, and all were drawn to Cory.

Some of Cory’s happiest moments were spent up north at Uncle Lane’s cabin, playing at the dog park, boating with Mom and Dad, and enjoying poker nights at Vintage. He loved waterskiing, climbing the dunes in Glen Arbor, Michigan, and creating memories with the people he loved most.

Cory had a gift for making ordinary moments memorable. His kindness, bravery, generosity, and selflessness will continue to live on through the gift of organ donation, allowing others to carry a piece of him forward.

Cory was a wonderful and deeply loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He had a genuine way of making people feel seen, included, and cared for. Cory is survived by his parents, John and Leslie (Berenschot) Goodnetter; brothers; Luke and Trey Goodnetter; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Ann Goodnetter and Leon Berenschot and LaRae Owens. Though Cory’s time with us was far too short, the impact he made will continue through the stories, memories, and love shared by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Cory’s life will be held on Friday, June 26, at Elmbrook Church Lake Country, 1100 WI 83, Hartland, WI. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM–3:00 PM, with a celebration service to follow from 3:00 PM–4:00 PM.

In honor of Cory’s vibrant spirit and the joy he brought into the lives of others, the family invites guests to wear colors that celebrate his life. We kindly ask that guests refrain from wearing black as we gather to celebrate Cory and the incredible impact he had on the lives of those around him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to NAMI in Cory’s memory.
