Colette M. Netzel

June 8, 1933 — December 29, 2022

Brookfield

Colette passed away December 29th, 2022 at Congregational Home in Brookfield at the age of 89. She was born in Racine on June 3rd, 1933 to William and Delphie Kannenberg. Despite growing up poor in the Depression, Colette had an ambition to succeed and put herself through college with an assortment of part time jobs, including modeling, and scholarships.

At UWM, she met the love of her life, Scott, and they were married after graduation on August 3rd, 1957. She began a teaching career at Brookside School in the Elmbrook School District.

Colette had a passion for travel, and the couple did a road trip from Milwaukee to Acapulco, Mexico for their honeymoon. This was just one of many adventures that took them across North America and Europe exploring cities, National Parks and historical sites. She was also an avid collector of Japanese art, as well as elephant figurines and statues of all sizes.

Colette is survived by her husband Scott, sons Brett (Beverly) and Forrest, as well as many other beloved family members and friends. The family sincerely thanks the dedicated staffs of Elmbrook Memorial, Congregational Home and Legacy Hospice for her care.
