Obituary

It is with profound love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Clyde Robert Spittel at the age of 90. Born in Horicon, WI to Oscar and Elsie (Marks) Spittel.

Clyde taught the value of hard work and resilience. He began working at John Deere Horicon Works in 1961 and retired, after  37 years of service, in 1998. He also went on to work at Target after retirement. During his younger years he enjoyed refereeing basketball and helping coach St. Stephen's boys' basketball. Whether he was cheering his favorite sports team, singing karaoke, coloring for others, working at Target, or waving at the corner to all the passersby, he approached every day with a joyful spirit and an adventurous heart.

As a devoted father, grandfather and husband, he was a great supporter, always ready with a comforting word or a helping hand. His legacy of kindness, love and perseverance will continue to guide and inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bonnie (nee Bushkie); his daughter, Amy; his granddaughter, Jade; one brother, Lynn; one sister, Joyce Heuer; other in-laws, Walter (Donna) Bushkie, Donald (Carolyn) Bushkie, Pauline (David) Dahlinger, Di Bushkie.; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by siblings: Harvey Spittel, Leslie (Violet) Spittel, Gilbert Spittel, Eldoris (Alvin) Quandt, Eleanor (Roger Acker), Archie Spittel, Roy (Myrt) Spittel, Juliet (Alex) Giese, Dale (Sally) Spittel; and in-laws, Marilyn Spittel, Gordon Heuer, and Michael Bushkie.

A Celebration of Clyde's life and legacy will be held on August 1st. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until Noon. A service will follow at Noon at Hales Corners Lutheran Church, located at 12300 W Janesville Road, Hales Corners, WI 53130. All who knew and loved him are invited to join us in honoring his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hales Corners Lutheran Church or the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF).
