Benjamin William Gardner

January 27, 1966 — May 3, 2020

Benjamin William Gardner, 54, of Mukwonago, WI, passed away on May 3, 2020, surrounded by loved ones, after a long and difficult battle with cancer. Benjamin (Ben, Benji) was born on January 27, 1966, in Milwaukee, WI., to William (Eddie) and Sylvia Gardner. Ben had one son, Shawn Edward Gardner, of Wind Lake, WI. Ben also leaves behind two sisters, Becky Roder of Elkhorn, and Shelly Gardner (Jerry Steckl) of Waukesha. He is also dearly missed by his nephews Josh (Wendy) Roder and Luke Gardner, his nieces Tasha Roder, Jessi Roder, and grandnephew Dax Roder. Most of Ben's career was spent working in the construction industry, doing drywall work, until his health could no longer tolerate the hard work. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He dearly loved his son Shawn and they were able to spend time together in Alaska hiking and fishing for salmon. Ben also helped his father build a wonderful cabin in the northwoods where he loved spending time hunting and also enjoying bonfires with family and friends. He will be remembered for his quick wit and ability to put people at ease when around him. He loved to have fun. Ben was wonderful with animals. People often commented how their pets didn't usually take to strangers, but navigated toward Ben where they would always receive attention. The family is planning a memorial to honor Benji at a later time. If you would like to do something in Ben's honor, please consider giving a donation to the Waukesha County Humane Society. Photograph shown is of Ben at the World Trade Center Memorial in NYC. See Photos section for full picture.
