Barbara "Bobbie" Gaskell, of New Berlin, WI, born to Eternal Life on January 1, 2025, at age 92. Reunited with her late husband of 60 years, Richard "Dick”, who preceded her in death in 2017.
Bobbie is survived by her children Richard Jr. (Julie), Christopher (Roxanne), Laura (Jamie) Haddock and Jeffrey (Marnie); her grandchildren Dustin and Mattison, and one great-grandchild. Further survived by dear cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents Mina and Clemens Witt; sisters Collette Stone, Rita Mae Cassidy, and Mary Jane Witt, her brother Joseph Witt; and her brothers-in-law Russell Stone and Thomas Cassidy.
Born in Milwaukee, WI, Bobbie was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy and Mount Mary College. In her early career she worked as an EEG Technician at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, and later in her career she was a Counselor for the University of Wisconsin Extension, until her retirement. Together with her husband Dick, they raised their family in East Troy and later Portage, WI. They were fortunate to travel to many places near and far. They later enjoyed nearly two decades of retirement in Sebring, FL, where they enjoyed golfing, antiquing, and made many new friends. Bobbie was a repeat ladies club champion at their home golf course in Sebring.
Family and friends will remember Bobbie for her strong faith, vibrant personality, and her creativity. She loved to entertain, had a talent for decorating and a flair for fashion. She could strike up a conversation with anyone she met, loved a good card game, and in her recent years enjoyed spending a lot of quality time with her son, Rick, as well as watching all Wisconsin sports on TV with her dear friend and neighbor, Jan.
Services will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church (16000 W National Ave, New Berlin, WI 53151) on Friday, January 24, 2025. A visitation will be held from 10:00-10:45am, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00am. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials directly to the church or to the family to be donated in Bobbie’s name to her favorite charities, are appreciated.
