In Loving Memory of Andrew "Andy" Gene Anderson

Andrew "Andy" Gene Anderson, age 71, of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026. He was born on June 7, 1955, in Richland Center, Wisconsin, to Lorraine and John Anderson.

Andy valued family above all else, and the time he spent with family was what he cherished most. Some of his fondest memories were of his snowmobile racing days, made all the more memorable because they were shared as a family. He loved recalling his big brothers taking him for rides in their cars, and he often spoke of his dad being able to fix anything and his mom being able to make anything special, just because. He held a special place in his heart for his sister, closest to him in age growing up, whom he missed greatly and who had gone far too soon.

Andy was a hardworking man who spent his career as a pipefitter and took great pride in his work. He believed in helping others and was known for his generous heart and his willingness to do whatever he could for someone in need. He was the truest example of the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back.

Andy loved classic cars and took great pride in restoring the 1969 AMX that he and his dad bought together. He would often tell the story of when he and his dad bought the car and how he was allowed to drive it—well before he was legally allowed to drive. He enjoyed attending classic car shows with his restored car and took pride in being one of the few who could say, "original owner." He loved Harleys and he loved music. He collected guitars, learned to play, and even taught a grandson a thing or two on several of his guitars.

He loved to make others laugh and to share stories from his travels and experiences throughout his life. He had a gift for telling a good story and could bring people along with him through his memories. Those who knew him will remember his stories, his generosity, his sense of adventure, and the many ways he made a difference in the lives of others.

He had a great love for his dogs—Tigger, and more recently his new puppy, Theo.

Andy is survived by his son, Andrew "Lil A" Anderson, and his wife Jen, and their children, Christian, Kade, Beckett, and Charley; his daughter, Andrea Gassman, husband Justin, and children, Alex, Andrew, Atlanta, and Jaylen; along with his 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his extended family, including the spouses, nieces, and nephews of his late siblings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine and John Anderson; his brothers, John and Rick Anderson; his sister, Debra (Anderson) Hopkins; his wife, Diane (Moratti) Anderson; and long-time friend, Ron Hammer.

Andy will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His generous spirit, his stories, and his memories will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

A private ceremony will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations that will go to Angel's Grace Hospice and to Andy's favorite local dog park.
