Alice (Sitte) Kahler, 96, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at Angel’s Grace Hospice, after battling breast cancer and Alzheimer's. She is preceded in death by her husband, DeWayne Adam Kahler; parents; and siblings; Glen, Elaine, Laverne, Dawn, Karen, and Donald.
She is survived by her daughters, Terry Brumfield and Barbara Peterson; granddaughter, Danyelle (Norman) Kukuk; and great granddaughters, Avery and Emerson Kukuk, to whom she was lovingly known as great grandma GI GI.
Born 4th of 7 children to Harold Sitte and Pearl (Strandell) Sitte, she grew up in Ellison Bay, Wisconsin. She remembered fondly of life on the family farm and picking cherries as a young girl in their orchards. After attending Bethel College in Minneapolis, she married her high school sweetheart, Allan Peterson, and moved to Milwaukee. There, they built a family and a budding construction business with the help of Robert Peterson. In later years, Alice worked for Johnson Controls as an inspector of electronics and ceramic circuit boards. It is here that she met her soulmate and second husband, DeWayne Kahler. Their life together took them to Sarver, Pennsylvania and Tucson, Arizona.
Along the way, Alice touched many lives. She was always smartly dressed with an impeccable sense of style that carried over into her home, where many of her beautiful cross stitched pieces decorated the walls. Her gracious and welcoming spirit made her a natural hostess, and spending time with friends and family was the highlight of her day. Her kindness, wit, and loyalty were cherished by all of her friends, many of whom were lifelong. And her family, especially her daughters, will always treasure the love she shared with them, the grace and determination she showed when under pressure, and the independent woman that she was.
